Pragya Kapoor made a tattoo on her hand to mark her father's memory
Mumbai. Birthday is usually an occasion of celebration, the pandemic has changed lives for most of the people across the world. For Pragya Kapoor, her birthday this year is also a little different. Celebrating his first birthday in the absence of his father, whom he lost due to complications related to COVID. They decided to immortalize him by getting a tattoo done in his memory.
The tattoo depicts a metal butterfly with a trident for the head, symbolizing her life and growth in the cocoon of her father’s love, care and guidance. Describing her tattoo, Pragya Kapoor said, ‘It is said that butterflies represent the human soul after death. I have found a metal symbolizing my father’s strength. One Devanagari J (his father’s name is Jayant) is merging into a P on the other side. To symbolize that he now lives in me. Trishul is made in the shape of fire as I was supposed to cremate them along with my brothers, but unfortunately it could not happen. So this was my way of giving them fire and the creator fire was involved in that.’
While his father remains in his heart and mind in the form of indelible memories, the tattoo is a constant reminder of his presence, even if not spiritually. In her Instagram post, Pragya wrote, ‘I am because you were. Celebrating today because I know how much this day means to you.. I can’t help but look at my phone, I’m waiting for your call to make me wish. But it is not possible but maybe. Birthday miracle.
They say that butterflies represent the human soul after death. Now you are alive… always in me. Guide me, love me and look up to me as always. Can’t ask for a better birthday gift than this. Hope his father’s soul rest in peace and wish him a very Happy Birthday!
